WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades provide a guaranteed boost to certain stats. Each upgrade increases Item Level upgrade level by 3. Each upgrade also boosts an unspecified substat.

The upgraded gear is usually more useful, unless the item has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are less useful for those with lower requirements due to the requirement to roll an exact version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by offering the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapon. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enchantments.

You can upgrade your gear at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader every couple of weeks to ensure that your equipment is up to date.

The cost of upgrades will vary based on the current level of the gear being upgraded however, they will always be less expensive than buying new equipment from other sources. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest to ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item upgrading will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that are used to level up weapons and tools, armor and accessories. They can be purchased by players through NPCs who sell upgrades to item owners for various currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased it can be used on any weapon or tool using an button, which will display an item's preview when it is upgraded in the event that the player has enough materials.

The cost of upgrading varies based on the item slot, and the current level of the item. For example weapons are more expensive than bracers, or gloves. Each step costs 15 Flightstones plus a certain number of crests. Some upgrades offer a discount on the Flightstones. After an item has been upgraded to a certain amount, it can be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.

Upgraders for items are available at many locations on the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade coupon and a chance to obtain an entirely new recipe. The discount for upgrading increases when more items are upgraded. It can be increased if players complete certain achievements or quests.

Contrary to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II there is no upgrader for items available in the beginning of Icewind Dale. The NPCs that can assist with upgrades are only accessible through a variety means. This is both a positive and a disadvantage.

In Season 3, the upgrade system has been modified a bit, and some new features added. Once the player has upgraded to a certain item upgrades level for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same item level will cost less. This is true regardless of whether the items come from another set of gear.

The discount applies to all accounts. Similarly, the amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is also reduced and is not available until players have reached certain milestones in their achievements.

Crests

Players have several choices when it comes to upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more special, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are a crucial part of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System that was introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.

The first thing to note is that crests can only be spent on equipment of a particular rank, and that each rank has its own requirements for upgrading. The simplest and simplest upgrade is 15 crests. The most complex upgrade could require as much as 20 crests, contingent on the type or gear that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by completing tasks at the appropriate level. When a piece reaches the highest level of upgrade items for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it no longer requires Flightstones. This is to allow players to upgrade their equipment to the highest level possible on all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.

It's also important to use crests wisely, as they only have one use. For instance, it's a good idea to make use of all your Whelpling-rank crests with the best equipment available and save Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you plan to create. This is particularly relevant for items like trinkets and rings that fill multiple slots. The discount for the entire account will only apply when all the slots on the character are filled with high-quality gear.
