WoW Upgrades - The item level upgrade Upgrader

Upgrades give you boosts in specific stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an Item Level Upgrade by +3. A random substat is also boosted alongside each upgrade.

The upgraded gear typically has a higher trade value as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or very high stat variance (like eth titan weapons). These types of gear get less value from upgrading due to the requirement to roll for a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The upgrader for items allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher item upgrader kit level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapon. However, the Best item upgrade used for the upgrade will be consumed forever and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create the enchantments.

The upgrader is located in every major city, and can be accessed anytime to upgrade your equipment. To keep your gear up-to-date it is recommended you visit the upgrader each few weeks.

The cost of upgrades will vary based on the current level of the gear being upgraded but they will always be less expensive than buying new equipment from other sources. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest to the level of ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that are used to level up weapons and tools, armor and accessories. Players can purchase them from NPCs of item upgraders for various currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased it can be used on any weapon or tool with the help of The button will show the item's next upgrade level, when there are enough materials.

The cost of upgrading is based on the item upgrades slot and the current level of the item, with weapons costing more than gloves or bracers, for instance. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a certain number of crests. Some upgrades give a discount on the Flightstones. After an item has been upgraded to a certain degree it is able to be degraded and returned to the upgrader for a lesser amount of both currencies.

Many locations have upgraders for their items, including the main Island and a few outposts. The NPCs offer an upgrade coupon and a chance to obtain a new recipe. The discount for upgrading increases when more items are upgraded. It can also be increased by having players complete certain achievements or quests.

Contrary to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II, there is no upgrader for items in the beginning of Icewind Dale. Instead, the NPCs that are available to facilitate upgrades must be acquired through a variety of means which is both an improvement and a drawback.

In Season 3, a number of new features were added to the upgrade system. When a player has an upgrade to a particular item upgrader kit level for a particular armor slot, upgrading additional items to that level will cost less, even if they are part of a different gear set.

The discount applies to all accounts. Similarly, the amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is also reduced and is not available until players have reached certain achievement milestones.

Crests

Players have a variety of choices when it comes to upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specific, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an essential part of the Dragonflight gear progression system introduced in 10.1 and are available in 4 ranks.

The first thing to be aware of is that crests are only able to be used to purchase gear of a specific rank, and each rank has different requirements for its upgrade path. The simplest and most straightforward upgrade process costs just 15 crests while the most complicated requires as many as 20 crests, based on the type of equipment being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by working through content that is of the appropriate level, which involves walking around and performing outdoor activities for lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons with all difficulty for items of higher tier or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses or dungeons for endgame gear. These crests can then be exchanged at an upgrader NPC like Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken, for the appropriate upgrade paths and steps.

Using these new currencies isn't that difficult however, the system does introduce some modifications to the upgrade process. When a piece reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it no longer requires Flightstones. This change is designed to allow players to get their equipment up to the highest possible ilvl on all their characters instead of relying only on seasonal loot.

It's also essential to use crests wisely, as they are only used for one purpose. It is recommended to put your Whelpling-rank Crests on the top-quality equipment you can locate, and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next round of upgrades. This is particularly applicable to rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character, which will only be able to benefit from the account-wide discount if all of the slots are filled with top-quality equipment.
